OY Another Polish Joke!

By teaplayground · March 10, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Here is OY Another Polish Joke! layered over the cremes from the EuroCentrale Collection. I am still thinking if I should get it. On it's own, it doesn't appeal to me, but magic happens when it is applied over cremes.

I love the look over My Vampire is buff (4th from the left), it creates a rather elegant look yet subtle look. Also, it has a matte finish if you don't put top coat. Perfect with gold or silver glitter on top of it too.

Would you get it or not?

Golden Eye

By teaplayground · March 10, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

I'm in love with gradient manicures right now. So here's another one for the sharing.

It was done with OPI Golden Eye with China Glaze's Cheers to You.

If you don't have that china glaze polish, OPI's Glitzerland would also work I think. I love the flakey look of golden eye.

Another reason for getting OPI Golden Eye? It's because I wanted to do a classic leopard print mani and I think GoldenEye would make a perfect base. Here's a sample:

This was done with OPI Legs Celebrate (which I think is discontinued), so Golden Eye would be a good replacement. One polish, two uses. The brown dots was done using ZOYA's Cola

Jelly gradient manicure.

Syrup Glitter Sandwich 3 Syrup Glitter Sandwich 3

Zoya is one of the best nail polish brands out there, most of their cremes are outstanding in terms of shine and finish, they do great glitters as well but I love their jelly finishes too. Not alot of major polish companies do jelly finishes. But Zoya has a few that caught my eye. Especially having spotted the following gradient jelly manicure, I'm sold.

Isn't this pretty? Gradients are easier to do with jelly finishes as their edges are not as sharp and obvious as cream finishes. Perfect to do french jelly tips as well and a swipe of glitter polish concludes it perfectly.

This was using zoya's Freida with OPI Pirouette My Whistle.

I will be opening a ZOYA SPREE soon, for those ZOYA lovers, watch this space :D

A surprising combination!

By teaplayground · March 9, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

This combination is amazing. I thought I won't have use for OPI's A Woman Praguative which is the Euro Centrale Collection, but looks like I need to have it now :( Oh, $$!

Place your order for OPI here:

http://teaplayground.livejournal.com/27879.html

This is done with:

She did the circles freehand, I am thinking of using some kind of circle shapes then "stamp" the rings as I am not confident of doing the circles freehand. But she's done an amazing job. Looks like A Woman's Praguative is a must buy! EEEEK.

Tri-color pedicure.

By teaplayground · March 9, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Okay, for those who are uncomfortable with seeing toe nails, please do not read this post.

With that being said, let's marvel at the beauty of this tri-colored pedicure I did on the spur of the moment yesterday. I think it is pretty nice, don't you? Of course, this was pre-clean up, I was already quite tired, so decided to leave the clean up for today.

Sorry for the blur photo, taken using my iphone.

I have so many more inspiration/ideas for nail art, but my fingernails are pretty short at the moment, so when it grows longer, I'll start :) Watch out for this space.

Also, I am in the midst of looking into creating my very own indie brand, as far as I know, there is at most one or two Singaporean owned indie brands, not alot. I am hoping to create my own nail polishes, so yes, pretty excited for that.

As you can see, my right foot wasn't done so well, I might go and repaint the right foot. But I like how it turned out for the left one. I love the color combination though.

Polishes used:

Catrice - something peach, can't remember at the moment. (The coral/neon)
My own franken color - Lime Up! (The lime green)
My own franken color - In Clear Waters (The Turquoise green)

What do you think? If you are interested in a tutorial, let me know and I might do one. Depending on the rate my nails grow though.

OPI Spree #10 - Officially Open

By teaplayground · March 5, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Hello all, sorry to keep you guys waiting. A few of you have expressed your interest in getting OPI polishes to me and since I'm in love with the upcoming collections, I have decided to open a spree.

This will also be a pre-order for the OZ and Euro Centrale collection and a last chance for you to lay your hands on liquid sands if you haven't.

All nail polish (including basic base coat and top coat) are $10 each w/o postage. For more details, please refer to the spree page. Mariah Carey's liquid sand is $11 (I managed to lower the price, it's still pricey cos it's oos at most places), but the OZ's What Wizardry Is This Liquid sand will still $10.

Once you made payment, I will confirm the orders at my supplier side, on a rolling basis to ensure that what you want is secured. Simply put, as long as the polish is not discontinued or oos, I will reserved them for you. My sprees are well-known for being fast in distribution, so you can be assured.

SPREE WILL CLOSE ON:

12TH MARCH 2013. UPCOMING TUESDAY.

FOR THOSE WITH ORDERS OF 4 BOTTLES OR MORE, THE MEETUP SHOULD BE ON 15TH MARCH 2013, FRIDAY EVENING. TO BE CONFIRMED AGAIN THROUGH EMAIL.

P.S: Livejournal is acting all weird now, so I will try to make a spree post tmr. But you can also email me at teaplayground@gmail.com to place your orders. Usual rules apply:

SPREE PAGE IS HERE:/ ORDER HERE.

http://teaplayground.livejournal.com/27879.html

Just a heads up, I would encourage you guys to place order asap so I can reserve your polish for you. Especially for the mariah carey's liquid sand, I am not sure how much stocks are left.

OPI's OZ The Great and Powerful.

By teaplayground · March 4, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

I'm really happy with OPI's recent and upcoming collection, they did a great job. I have touched on the Mariah Carey's and the Euro Centrale line, now it's time to be wowed by the OZ's Collection.

Beware, all glitter lovers, you heart might not be able to take it!

(left to right): Which is Witch?, Lights of Emerald City, and When Monkeys Fly!

After looking at the glitters, some of you might be thinking, so what's up with the softshades, they are so boring, sheer and just boring. *inserts yawn*, but hey, I will tell you right now that there's a high possibility that I am going to get all 3 softshades. WHY? Scroll down!

Which Is Witch? – (layered over Don’t Burst My Bubble)

I am not a fan of bar glitter, but even I can't resist it. Think that it's all to it? Nope, be prepared to get wowed again.

OPI – Which Is Witch? sandwiched between Don’t Burst My Bubble layers

Not everyone who is working has the luxury to wear bold or eye catching nail color, so the above combination is a perfect muted down version, yet still can hold it's own. Be prepared for compliments on this combination.

When Monkeys Fly! – (layered over Glints of Glinda)

OPI – When Monkeys Fly! sandwiched between Glints of Glinda layers

Lights of Emerald City – (layered over I Theodora You)

I am going gaga over this.

OPI – Lights Of Emerald City sandwiched between I Theodora You Layers

What Wizardry Is This? - Liquid sand, yes, the same formula as the liquid sands in MC's Collection.

What Wizardry Is This - without topcoat.
It reminds me of an avocado skin. LOL.

But it's beauty is revealed with a layer of topcoat.

I might be getting almost all of this. Shit, but my heart is calling out for them! What about you?

OPI Euro Centrale Collection

By teaplayground · March 4, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

I was at BHG yesterday and I swatched Polka.com and it was instant love at first swatch. Paired with the You're Such A Budapest, I'm in heaven. I kid you not. Since I haven't gotten my hands on it, but soon will as soon as the OPI spree closes, I will do a more in depth review. But first,

1 coat of OY-Another Polish Joke! over I Saw...U Saw...We Saw...Warsaw.

You know, OY-Another Polish Joke! hits me as the perfect gold polish for next year CNY, it'd be great over a bright orange or red. Good for christmas too!

If I am not wrong, this collection is not part of the permanent line too, so once it's gone, it's gone. I'm doing pre-order for this collection + the oz collection. Spree details coming up, wait for it.

I'm going to get two bottles of polka.com, it's an essential, goes so well with the other colors in this collection + it's good to do a sandwich with the softshades from the oz collection. What do I mean by sandwich? Read this to get a rough gist: http://teaplayground.onsugar.com/Christmas-Here-12082572#read-more , it's something like doing layering a color between two colors + topcoat.

OPI Mariah Carey's Liquid Sand.

By teaplayground · March 4, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

Okay, I know it's not a new things anymore, and most of you, or all of you have heard of the Mariah Carey Liquid Sands collection. Out of them, I love Stay the Night the most and as I have done a post on it below. It's stunning for sure. I am also in love with Get Your Number, but that bright blue don't suit me. So as tempted as I am to get it, I am still on the fence about it.

And yes, with it being limited edition, I better make a decision soon, and fast, before it runs out. It happened with It's a trapeze and Stay the Night but I am pretty lucky with both, but not so much so for OPI Merry Midnight which will forever be my regret. Anyways, moving on, I just thought the beauty of the liquid sands would be worth of a post on it's very own. So here it is. Regardless the number of times I have seen it, their beauty always astouned me, it's amazing how OPI's R&D deparment manage to develop them.

Get Your Number.

You see what I meant? The beauty of this blue is unrivalled.

The Impossible

What I love about this is that it has a jelly-ish like look. So when I do gradient nails, it'd be perfect.

Can't let go.

It looks so amazing with the topcoat. It's as if the topcoat acts like a glass, with so much depth going on underneath it.

For Stay the night, refer to previous post.

OPI Stay the Night

By teaplayground · March 4, 2013 · 0 Comments ·

To be honest, Stay the night with topcoat is 10x more amazing than the pictures could ever do justice. Seriously, I swatched it at BHG and am wearing it now on one finger and I can't express my love for it.

I saw the Mariah Carey nail polishes, but didn't get it. Now I'm regretting it big time as most places are out of stock for liquid sands. See the pattern with It's a Trapeze. Luckily I managed to secure two bottles :) It's $11.50, after postage it was $12.50. But comparing it to BHG, which sells for $20, I'd say that I had a good deal.

I love OPI Stay the night. Reason? I swatched it and it dried reasonably fast. Second, it has a dual look, either you leave it plain for a unique texture/look or pair it up with a topcoat and the shine is amazing. I would compare it to Deborah's Lippman's Ruby Red Slippers. If you cannot lay your hands on Deborah Lippman's Ruby Red Slippers or Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance, I would say that Stay the night is a close contender. It has the same black with a glitter like the rest.

I mean just look that the difference with and without topcoat. Worlds apart, yet stunning nonetheless.

What do you think of the OPI Liquid sands? Yay or nay?
